"All of you who are thirsty, come to the water! Whoever has no money, come, buy food and eat! Without money, at no cost, buy wine and milk!" Isaiah 55:1 ESV

Do you remember when you went out for a meal with a friend, and they surprised you by paying the tab? Being treated is a beautiful gesture, but the real reason for spending time with your friend is because you treasure the time you spend together in conversation and sharing. Their gift is a demonstration of how much your friendship means to them as well.

In today's passage, God is issuing an invitation, if you are thirsty and hungry come. There is no charge. It is absolutely free! All that God asks is that you come and accept. He values us as his children and wants to treat us to the good things found in following him. But as in all of life, there are choices. We are extended an invitation, "God, his Son, and the Holy Spirit wishes the pleasure of your attendance to dine on Friday, August 21, 2020." How will we choose to RSVP? Will we accept, "Thank you, God, for your kind invitation (salvation), and I am delighted to accept." Or instead, will our response be, "Dear God, I am sorry that I can not accept your invitation. Unfortunately, I have a prior engagement."

Our most awesome and gracious God, we thank you for the invitation to come and dine at your table, and for your Son, who, through his death, gave us salvation at no cost to us. Please help us remember to make time in our busy schedules always to accept your invitation with "Yes, Lord." May we make it a priority to sit down with you each day in conversation. Not just talking but also listening. As you invite us, let us invite others to your glorious table. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Blessings!

Pastor Tim
