I hate double-minded people, but I love your law. You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. Psalms 119:113-114 NIV
At some point in our lives, we will be hurt and disappointed by someone we hold dear. Often the hurt, though perhaps unintentional, comes from things said. Regardless of the reason, the words have done damage, and we have been wounded. But, of course, at other times, we have been the perpetrators of the hurt.
The word of God never creates hurt but brings healing, comfort, and hope. It is the place to turn for guidance and strength. True, it may convict our hearts and move us toward repentance, but that's a good thing. When that happens, we seek forgiveness from God and those we've hurt.
As followers of Christ, we strive to put God's word into action, and by studying scripture, we learn how that looks. Although we do not wish to harm, we are human and, at times, unknowingly falter. Thankfully, this doesn't mean we are a failure or God no longer loves us. Just the opposite, he stands ready to forgive.
Gracious God,
We come before You, our refuge and shield. Your Word is our anchor, guiding us through life’s storms. Yet, Lord, we confess our imperfections. There are moments when our words wound others, and we ache from the wounds inflicted upon us.
Teach us to love Your law wholeheartedly, forsaking double-mindedness. May our hearts echo the psalmist’s love for Your Word. When we falter, convict us gently, leading us to repentance. And in our brokenness, grant us the courage to seek forgiveness—from You and from those we’ve hurt.
Thank You for Your unwavering love. May we continually find hope in Your promises, knowing that You sustain us through trials. Uphold us, Lord, that we may respect Your statutes forever.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
