So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 NRSV
Yesterday was our annual church fair. For any who have been involved in any fundraising event, you appreciate all the time and energy that goes into making it successful, the planning, promoting, setup, and day of activities, followed by the cleanup. So the chances are, if I were to ask folks in church this morning if they are weary, I'd receive a resounding yes.
Today's verse reminds us that we should not tire of doing what is right. We have God's promise that there will be an eventual harvest if we press on. It may be an extended planting season, but the day will come. The more we sow, the more we reap by a multiplication factor; it is blessed more than one times the sowing. For example, the yield exceeds the original planting. And while the reward for the fundraiser is to meet some new friends and bring in some needed funds. What we do for Christ pays off in a heavenly reward.
God of the harvest, help us not tire in pursuing righteousness. Grant us strength in our sowing so we may enjoy a bountiful harvest. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
