And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ. Philippians 1:9-10 NIV
As a project manager, my responsibility was to prepare for the successful conclusion of a future event. A project is not a single event but consists of many subsequent tasks that must be fully completed. If steps are omitted or not done well, there will be problems, sometimes significant, post-project. In addition, there are essential items (milestones) that help the manager measure the pulse of the project. If milestones begin to slip, adjustments must be made to the timeline.
The Apostle Paul prepares us for the ultimate future event, the return of Christ. Critical to our success is our understanding and application of love—the kind of all-encompassing compassion, empathy, and kindness that permeates our lives. Like good spiritual project managers, we must keep our fingers on the pulse of love to ensure we are pure and blameless for the day of Christ.
Precious and loving God, we are thankful for your continual love towards us. Help us to listen, learn and practice that same love, preparing us for Christ's return. We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
