Weary and Weak

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Isaiah 40:29 NIV

We have all had times in our lives when we have thought nothing else could possibly go wrong. When that happens, we get bone-tired and run down. Just when we are ready to give up in that helpless state, we catch the tiniest glimpse of hope to hold on.

God is always with us, but often we more acutely feel his presence when we are weary and weak; when we become humbled, our earnestness for his presence increases. I am not saying God is the one who sends us the troubles, to humble us those are simply part of life but God is in that tiny glimpse of hope. He is the source of strength and power we need at that moment. The words from the psalmist echo this hope, "I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." (Ps. 121:1‭-‬2)

Father God of all times we thank you for your presence in our lives. We rejoice in the good times and give thanks for the strength and power you give us when we are weary and weak. Please help us to remain humbled before your presence and show reverence for your awesomeness. We pray this day for each other and that those in distress may remember your healing power and promise. In Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Blessings,

Pastor Tim
