You’ve Got a Friend in Me

"I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you." John 15:15 (NIV)

Have you ever heard the song “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from the film franchise Toy Story? In the movie, Woody and Buzz learn that true friendship lasts, even when things change or get tough.

Think about the best friend you’ve ever had. What made that friendship special? Was it the way they made you laugh, the way they had your back, or just knowing they were always there for you?

Now, imagine a friend who never leaves, never gives up on you, and loves you no matter what. That's the kind of friend Jesus is. The best part? You don’t have to earn His friendship—it’s freely given. Even before you seek Him, He’s already seeking you.

Jesus fulfills your need for belonging and knowing you have someone in your corner. He offers you that kind of friendship—deep, loyal, and unwavering. Jesus is not just a friend for the good days—He is a friend for every day. No matter where life takes you, He walks beside you. He sees you, He loves you, and He chooses you.

Like a good friend, He wants to talk with you. You don’t need to make a call or send a text, because He is always right there with you, listening.

Friend Jesus, thank you for being my friend. In moments of loneliness, remind me that you are near. In times of struggle, let me feel your love surrounding me. You see me, you know me, and you call me yours.

Help me trust in your friendship—to lean on you when life feels heavy and to walk with you in every step. Thank you for being my friend, which isn’t based on what I've done, but on your grace and love for me.

Thank you for never turning away and for always welcoming me with open arms. May I know and accept deep in my heart that I am never alone. May I find strength in knowing that you, the Savior of the world, call me your friend. Amen.
